Kitchen Tableware
After the honey moon trip it is time to return to the real
world and the first thing to do is to make sure your house is functional, starting with the kitchen tableware and
equipment. The wedding ceremony and party were great, all your friends and family showed up. The honey moon trip
was even better, no worries, only fun and a lot of love. It is over though, you have returned to your new home and
things have to be set in order.
You received a lot of gifts from family and friends so the
first thing to do is to find out if some of them belong in the kitchen. Once this is done you can decide what is
missing; what you need immediately and what can wait. A detailed list will help you to eliminate the kitchen
tableware you already have and to decide on what to buy first.
You will need pots and pans of different sizes, you can buy
them in complete sets that will start you on your cooking, with time you will see that other pots and pans
are necessary for special cooking styles and foods. These are not necessary now, you are only buying the essential
equipment at this time. Make sure that when you chose the pots and pans you want to buy they are enamel covered so
the food won’t stick to them and they are easy to clean.
Next you will need knives, spoons and other cooking gear used
to handle the food while on the stove. You can also buy a complete set of knives for your kitchen, the set
comes with serrated knives of different sizes, regular knives and even a pair of strong scissors used to cut
chicken into pieces. You can also find kitchen spoon sets, they include spoons with holes in them and soup spoons
and even a spatula to make pancakes with. Be sure that the part of these utensils that will be used in your pans
and pots is made of hard plastic so they do not scratch the enamel finish.
Other essential elements of kitchen tableware are a blender, a
food processor, a microwave oven, a mixer, a can opener and a coffee maker. The list must also include glass
bowls to mix food in or serve salad at the table, different size plastic containers to store food in the
refrigerator and other assorted small things that will make work in the kitchen easier and
enjoyable.
When you finally go out shopping for the items on your list, it
is important to look for good quality, hardy resistant equipment. Remember many of these will be in contact with
heat and you do not want them to melt or lose their shape while you are cooking. All the kitchen tableware must be
dishwasher safe so you do not have to wash it by hand after every meal. Only buy the absolutely necessary things,
the rest you may buy when you need them, there is no sense in buying things you will not need for weeks or
months.
